General Field Overview
The Chris Campbell Memorial Field and Clubhouse was created in an effort to engage the
surrounding township in educational and developmental activities with a focus on generating
a positive community spirit and improving the quality of everyday life. In partnership with the
CTC Ten Foundation, AMANDLA EduFootball is the official implementing partner of the
Chris Campbell Memorial Field. Through the support of the local community and key
stakeholders, AMANDLA is able to manage a variety of events and ongoing programmes at
the Field. The Crime Prevention Football League (CPL), Heads Up Football Programme,
AMANDLA Women’s Football League, Western Province Field Hockey Clinics, and
Educational Holiday Tournaments are just a few of the various programmes that have been
run to date. As a whole these programmes present local youth with the opportunity to get off
of the streets and engage with one another in a safe and productive environment.
History of Field
in order to honour the memory of Christopher Thomas Campbell. Chris was an active
member of his community as well as a passionate football player and fan. Consequently, it
was the wishes of his family and friends that a tribute to him would somehow benefit the
children of this world through the power of sport. Thanks to the generosity of a vast network
of supporters, Franklin and Marshall College, and AMANDLA EduFootball, the foundation
was able to design and construct the Chris Campbell Memorial Facility in Site B,
Khayelitsha, South Africa. To this day the field provides football leagues and education
programming to hundreds of children and young adults on a daily basis.
